Academy Award-Winning writer and director Oliver Stone will receive the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival(SFiFF) Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival’s 13th edition, presented this upcoming October. The Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony will be followed by a screening of an Oliver Stone film.
"Mr. Oliver Stone is one of the very greatest American movie makers of our time,” said SFiFF Artistic Director, Jacques Paisner. "He has dared to make a difference, and his courage has had an unmatched impact on the arts. It is our honor to award him SFiFF's 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award."
Three-time Academy Award-Winning Writer and Director Oliver Stone is the ultimate storyteller of American History. Having started his film career as a writer, Stone earned an Academy Award for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay for the film Midnight Express(1978). Stone has received additional Academy Awards as Best Director for Born on the Fourth of July(1989) as well as Platoon(1986). Over the course of four decades, Stone has achieved cinematic distinctions like winning Berlinale’s Silver Bear for Platoon(1986) and Venice Film Festival’s Grand Special Jury Prize for Natural Born Killers(1994).
Ceremony will take place at Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St. Santa Fe, NM 87501) at 7pm, Saturday, October 16th, 2021
